Crest Logo - Ion Packaging

Powerlyte went through a big shift in 2007 with a lot of new products. To push the shift in products, we also worked on a few new logo designs. I was given a piece of vector art the owner found on a stock photo site. Using that, I was to build a new crest style logo. I started in illustrator cleaning up the graphic some and then finished it off in photoshop.

I had to find a way to bring in some of the current design elements I had been working on for Powerlyte to create the continuity across design. Starting with someone Else’s vector art can sometimes pose a challenge when doing this but this one fell right into place.

I first worked on the shield area fitting in the PL logo and coming up with a background pattern in the shield that I felt worked well. Then I worked on the dark areas of the wings, replacing them with the PL pattern I used before. In the negative space, I carried over the background of the shield to pull the design together. A little glow around the edges finished it off perfectly.

For the box design, I was given a solid works file that I used to duplicate the measurements I needed. I also had to include cut outs where the parts would be seen through translucent film on the top. Then it became a matter of wrapping on to it the visual elements I had put together for other designs. I had to be conscious of the orientations so when the box was folded and sitting upright, all of the artwork would also be upright.

The box would be used for all of the body kits, regardless of color, so I had to include a color chart on the side where the box could be marked to indicate what color kit was inside. I reused the corner art again, and finished it off with some simple bullets about the product.
